As can be seen from table 2 below, the total number
of credit cards sold online has increased over the
years, up until the year 2020. Between 2019 and 2020
there was a decline of 24.5%. When we compare
these two years, we notice that up until July, the
number of credit cards offered for sale each month
in 2020 was higher than the numbers that were
offered for sale during the same period in 2019, but
the second half of 2019 presents high values that
make the total numbers higher for 2019.
When isolating the months of January to August from
2017 to 2021, we notice there is a decrease of almost
50% between the sale in 2020 and 2021. From this
data we can assume that 2021 will not break a new
record of credit cards offered for sale in Dark Web
markets and perhaps the world of stolen credit cards
offered for sale online is going to fade away slowly
over the years, while other attacks take over.
