The rapid development and widespread availability of commercial encryption technology now outpaces government capabilities, posing significant challenges for law enforcement. Cybercrime remains a critical threat as more activities move online. Deepfakes, created using AI to fabricate videos, audio or images, are increasingly used by criminals for fraud, scams and social media manipulation. GenAI-powered bots mimic human behavior with alarming realism, making it harder for investigators to identify cybercriminal schemes. Law enforcement confronts a complicated criminal landscape alongside significant technological challenges, including fragmented data sources and overwhelming data volumes. According to a recent Cognyte survey of hundreds of leading law enforcement agencies, 53% of organizations report significant delays in resolving investigations due to their inability to access relevant data sources.
