Tax authorities- Selling goods and services, especially through live streaming,
is exploding across social media platforms and e-commerce sites. Influencers
and entrepreneurs earn revenue not only from the goods and services they
sell directly online, but also through affiliate marketing, advertising, branding
deals, subscriptions and more. Tax evasion is widespread - many influencers
and e-commerce sellers fail to report, or underreport their income. In some
countries, ecommerce platforms are mandated to report sales information and
seller identification to tax authorities, however this is not the case in many
countries. As the number of sellers and platforms multiply, the challenge for
authorities increases. Additionally, the need to analyze unstructured data,
including video, images and audio, increases the difficulty for authorities in
identifying and investigating offenders.
