The most prominent example of this is the sale of stolen credit cards. Sales of credit card numbers on the Dark Web have been constantly declining for several years now. Despite this decline there is still a huge gap between the number of cards traded on Dark Web platforms and Telegram. Nine million posts advertising credit card sales have been published on the Dark Web in 2022. This number signifies a considerable decline from the peak reached in 2019, of 140 million related posts. However, it is still significantly higher than the mere 10,000 credit card sale messages published on Telegram in the same year.
