Data Fusion and Analytics for Chief Investigators, 2022 Survey Report
Top Missed Capabilities in Investigation Workflow by Domain
As indicated on the previous page, the top missing capabilities across all domains are tailoring analytics to specific
needs and using AI/ML to predict potential threats.
It’s interesting to see the prioritized needs of each domain. For example, chief investigators from financial crime units
and tax authorities expressed high interest in the capability to run queries on multiple sources, while security and civil
authorities seem to be more interested in the ability to process unstructured data.
Another example is the fact that port authorities, airport authorities and national security organizations seem to be
missing the ability to independently connect new data sources into their platforms.
The missing capabilities for investigators and analysts in each domain derive from the nature of their use cases, data
sources and methodologies and the effectiveness of their existing tools for data fusion and analytics.
