2 Data Ingestion and Lineage
NEXYTE provides a single point of access to all an organization’s data, for all data types and formats,
from both internal and external sources, in one unified data pool.
2.1 ETL Framework
NEXYTE provides an ETL (Extract, Transfer, Load) framework as its main data access and data
ingestion mechanism to integrate multiple data sources. The ETL flows access the defined external
sources, transfer source information to the NEXYTE data model (defined according by Cognyte, the
customer organization or a third party integrator), converts the data structure, and loads it to the
system DB.
NEXYTE uses an ETL framework in order to fuse data from various data sources into one unified model.
NEXYTE is able to integrate with various data sources including relational databases, Content
Management Systems, file systems, big data repositories, email servers, messaging, collection systems
input, and user uploaded data.
The data is automatically ingested, enriched during the ingestion process, stored and then is
immediately available for the use by system users.
The transformation of the raw data is conducted according to the entities data model which is
managed in the NEXYTE Dynamic Data Modeling studio.
The ETL provides a full data flow and lineage view of the entire transformation process between the
sources and the target schema of the system.

Transparency & Data Lineage
For every entity in the system, with one click the user can easily see every data item which comprises
the entity, and from which data source (or multiple data sources) it was ingested into the system. If
there are inconsistencies between the data sources, for example police records versus the tax
authority, the user can easily see this and manually edit the entity if needed.
